Susan was appointed to the Mark Twain Health Care District Board in March, 2016. She retired as a Clinical Social Worker, Director of Marketing and Outreach Coordinator for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System after 27 years of service. She also played a significant role in establishing the VA Outpatient Clinic in Sonora.

Susan earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from San Jose State University, and a BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. She taught in Arizona before joining the Palo Alto VA.

A California native, Susan was born and raised in the Bay Area. She has lived in Calaveras County since 2004 and enjoys taking an active role in the community. She’s a member of the Mark Twain Medical Center Patient Advisory Committee and a former Calaveras County Civil Grand Juror. She spent two years on the grand jury, serving as foreperson her second year. Susan enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, volunteering and participating in many outdoor activities.
